Dear Second Grade Families,

Welcome back!  It was great to see all the kids ready to learn on Monday morning.

Reminders for First Communion:

The envelope for ordering pictures will go home tomorrow along with FAQ’s for First Communion in their homework folder.

Tomorrow,  I will send a letter requesting the “love letters” for your child. Please send in your love letter no later than May 11th.   Every child MUST have at least one letter turned in. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding “the love letter.”

A Sneak Peek at our Week:

RELIGION: We will be preparing for our First Communion and begin our banners.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Reading: We continue to work on reading strategies. Please continue having your child read aloud at home. Please ask them if they are working on fluency, keeping track of longer books or understanding literary language.  All students are working on individual goals.

MATH: Fractions is our main focus in this unit. We are working on identifying 1/4, 3/5, and 1/2.  We will also have practice in three digit addition and subtraction.

Social Studies:  Learning about our ancestors…As I mentioned in a previous newsletter, please send your child with information or via email on a special cultural tradition from your ancestors to school anytime this week or next week.  Today, we shared information on Indian culture along with pictures.  The students LOVED the information.  They will be asking you at home about their ancestors.  🙂 Have fun!

Science:  We will end our year learning about life cycles.
