Dear Second Grade Families,

I hope you enjoyed this three-day weekend with your family.  We have a great week filled with new activities added to our daily routine and some fun on Friday.  I am looking forward to meeting grandparents or special guests this Friday. Please send me an email if your child will not have a special guest or grandparent coming on Friday.

Grandparents or special guests will meet our second graders in church at 8:20.  Grandparents are invited to Biederman Hall after mass for a quick snack.  Grandparents will be invited into the classrooms after recess until 11:40.  Please look for us in church, we sit on the right side of the church if you come in from the main entrance.

Also, I am looking for 3 volunteers for Primary Centers.   Please send me an email if you are able to attend primary centers on September 25th from 10:00-12:00.  This is a fun way to earn some service hours.

Here’s a look at our week…

Wednesday:  Return library books

Thursday:  P.E.

Friday:  Grandparents Day!!!

Homework

Homework is due every Monday.   I do check planners daily so please make sure they are signed everyday.  I want the students to make it a habit to show you their planner.  Our second graders are becoming responsible for their work.

Spelling Test tomorrow:  Study on spelling city.

Reading Log Homework: I logged in last night to check everyone’s reading log on Reading Glue.  Please make sure you go onto reading glue to add the minutes/title.  Students are required to have a minimum of  5 reading entries (logs). Each reading entry should be at least for 20 minutes.  You do not print a reading log out.  Click on “New Reading Log” on the right hand corner of your screen to add an entry.  I am available before and after school if you need any help with logging onto reading glue.

IXL: Must complete E.1 and F.1

RELIGION:  God is the Giver of Gifts & Jesus is God’ Best Gift/  Students will have a quiz on Thursday

Reading:  We are working on the comprehension skill: making a picture or mental image. Click HERE for skill to practice at home

MATH:  We are working on missing numbers on a number-line, skip counting, adding and subtracting to 10.

SCIENCE:  Sound:  sound waves, high/low pitch

Service Hours:  I had many parents take pencils/pillow cases/pillows/erasers for service hours.  You must fill out the date and # of hours completed before I can sign it.  Don’t forget to send it in so you can receive your hours of service. Thank you to all who have helped out. Next week, I will need parents to take some pillows, rugs or pillow cases.  Please send me an email if you are interested.

Have a Blessed Week,

Mrs. Vazquez
