Third Grade Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful break. We are back to working hard in third grade!
A few announcements…
Congratulations to Joseph, Emma, Evan, Brooklyn and Sergio! They were our poetry finalists. Today they recited their poems in front of a panel of judges…fingers crossed!
Our next class field trip will be on Wednesday, May 3rd. We are heading to the SB Museum of Natural History! Please make sure permission slips are turned in by this Friday, April 28th.
This Friday, April 28th is a full day!
On the evening of Wednesday, May 10th intermediate grades will have their music program. Please make sure your child is practicing their parts & songs! If your child is not able to attend the program, please let me know via email.
Here’s a look into our week…
Math: Our class began Unit 9, Multiplication & Division. We will be exploring a partial-products algorithm for multiplying 1 & 2 digit numbers, as well as division.
Reading: We are working hard in our research clubs, continuing to research on animals and working towards our final celebration: Finding Solutions to real-world problems.
note: students should be reading 100+ minutes a week, as well as recording it in their reading log.
Word Work: Spelling words can be found in your child’s planner. Our next spelling test is scheduled for this Friday.
Writer’s Workshop: We are continuing with persuasive writing, learning new strategies that we can use when generating opinion writing.
Grammar: We continue on with Lesson 31: Adverbs.
Science: During our Science time this week, we will learn more about our Solar System, focusing on each planets distance from the sun.
Social Studies: We continue learning about all parts that make up our United States Government.
Religion: This week, our faith focus will be on how Jesus, the Light of the World, leads us to God.
Thank you for all your support!
