A few announcements for third grade!
Tomorrow, May 10th, intermediate grades (3rd-5th) will be performing in their Spring Program. The performance will take place at 6:30 PM in the Biedermann Hall. A flyer regarding costumes and what to wear were sent home with your child last week. If your child is not able to attend the program, please let me know via email.
Tomorrow, May 10th is a free dress day! With their persuasive speeches, third grade was able to convince Mrs. Benner to add an extra free dress day to the school calendar. We chose our $1.00 donation to go towards St. Jude.
Friday, May 12th is a half-day and our annual Jog-a-thon! Please make sure to turn in any donations and pre-order forms (photos, shout-outs, Kona Ice). Parents, if Kona Ice was purchased for yourself or any other family members, those tickets will be in the same envelope with your child. Also, if your child is interested in buying from our book sale, please make sure money is sent to school so that they may be exchanged for tickets.
Here’s a look into our week…
Math: We continue with Unit 9, learning about factors of a whole number, sharing money, and dividing and multiplying money amounts.
Note: When completing S.10, please remind your child that multiplying money amounts can be solved by using the partial-products method.
Reading: In Reader’s Workshop we are close to reaching the end of our unit. We continue to talk about cause and effect as well as the importance of reading closely and thinking deeply while researching.
Word Work: Spelling words can be found in your child’s planner. Our next spelling test is scheduled for next Monday.
Writer’s Workshop: We are raising the level in our persuasive writing, continuing to set goals and gathering all we know about our opinion.
Grammar: We continue with Lesson 32: comparing adverbs.
Science: In science, we have constructed the planets of our Solar System! Dr. Rzasa will be coming into our class this week to demonstrate the relative distance between each planet!
Religion: This week, we continue on with Ch. 11, Jesus Is Our Redeemer.
Have a wonderful week!
