General items of interest: Picture retakes will be this Thursday. If your child is having his/her picture retaken, please make sure they have a regular school shirt to wear for the picture (it is a P.E. day). We are going on a field trip to the local fire station with our kindergarten buddies next Monday; I have sent home the permission slip with your child today. Students may purchase Halloween tattoos, to be applied on October 30^th; I will begin collecting money for the tattoos next Monday. The cost is $1 per tattoo; students may purchase as many as they would like, but can only have two applied at school.

What we are working on this week:

Religion: We will be reading about and discussing forms of worship.

Math: Students should complete ixL Math skills D1, D2 and D3 by next Monday. In class we continue work in Unit 3. For homework, I will be sending home a study link worksheet each day, which is to be completed and returned the next day.

Spelling: This week we are working on Unit 9. The book pages should be done by Friday, and we will have the test on Friday.

Grammar: We have started Unit 2, which focuses upon nouns.

Vocabulary: We begin our study of Unit 5 words, with a test to follow next week.

Reading: Fluency homework #8 should be completed by next Monday. Students should answer the seven questions and also write a short summary. Reading Logs will be due next Monday as well. You can access the form here. Reading log #1  We should be finished reading our literature selections by the end of this week.  New reading groups will then be formed.

Social Studies: We will complete activities in magazine four. I will give students a study sheet for a quiz on issues three and four, which will be on Friday.

Science: We begin our study of how living things interact with other living things.
