treeIt was wonderful meeting with all of you last week during Parent Conferences. I am so blessed to have your continuing support: thank you!

This Wednesday we have a free dress ($1 donation), which will support the charitable efforts of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Then on Friday we have a FREE free dress in honor of Christmas. We have a Christmas party and then an early dismissal on Friday, at noon, and then CHRISTMAS BREAK!

What we are working on this week

Religion: We have been focusing upon Advent and sacramental celebrations (Reconciliation and Eucharist), so this week we begin our study of chapter 10, focusing upon the First Commandment.

Math: We are learning about decimals and the metric system in Unit 4. Students need to complete ixL skills U4, U5 and U8, hopefully by this Friday, but if not, by next year (Jan 4th!).

Spelling: No Spelling Unit this week.

Grammar: We continue Unit 3, which focuses upon verbs.

Vocabulary: This week we continue our study of Unit 8 words; we will have the test on Thursday and book pages should be done by then. Students will be writing sentences with the 12 words, also due on Thursday.

Reading: The reading log (4 days only) will be due on Friday (click here for a copy Reading log summary), but I will not assign any Fluency Homework this week.

Social Studies: This week we move on to learning about the establishment of the missions in CA., reading Studies Weekly issue #10. We will also start learning how to take notes about our individual missions, in preparation for our next Writer’s Workshop project, Informational Writing.

Science: We are learning about energy in ecosystems.

Thanking you for your continuing support, and wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a joy-filled New Year,

Mrs. Mary Dwyer
