Dear Kindergarten Families,

I’m sure all families had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and weekend. Hopefully we are all rested and ready for school!  Thinking of all in our community and especially those in need…please send in some non-perishable food items. The St. Vincent de Paul food drive starts tomorrow, Monday … ends this Friday.

We continue to collect teddy bears and boxes of cereal for the Adopt-a-family program. Bring in anytime 2bearsthis week. Teddy Bear day is next Wednesday, December 9. In the spirit of giving, all our students will want to bring in a new stuffed animal to give to those in need.

Our religion lessons will center on Advent for this month. We will learn to stay ‘Awake’ and to ‘Prepare’ for the coming of Jesus.  Monday at 2:00 we will celebrate the beginning of Advent. Our School-Wide Learning Expectation  for  this  week  is: C.3   To Follow the Golden Rule.

ELA – continues where we left off last week, focus letter Vv and review of Hh, decoding words with short vowel /a/. Our reading strategy is to question, predict and infer when listening to stories aloud.  Vocabulary we will be working with is position and actions words.

EM- working to understand probability and use of that vocabulary to describe predictions- terms: certain, likely, unlikely, possible, impossible, chance, some, none, etc. We have a few games to help understand this new concept. A review measurement with the pan balance.

Science- How animals prepare/change/move during the winter months. Social studies continues with how people lived long ago in comparison with how we live today.

That should take us through the week! We will be preparing for the Christmas Program- more details coming soon.

Blessings for your families,

Mrs. Carol Brown
