The 6th grade class had an enjoyable day at the Getty Villa last week. We examined many ancient artifacts to learn about the daily life of the Greeks and Romans. The docent was so impressed with the questions and observations made by the students. We had a lively debate about the many uses and value of olive oil in the ancient world. We all agreed that olive oil was very valuable because it was used for light, cooking, prizes, cleaning the body, and possibly sun screen! So many uses for a kitchen staple today!
