Dear Kindergarten Families,

This is going to be a beautiful week with much to do!

**Progress Reports come home on Tuesday this week. Please return signed by Monday, April 18.

**Parent meeting this Wednesday evening in Biedermann Hall  6:30 to 7:30 please plan to attend.

**Friday is our annual Jogathon and a noon dismissal.

Most of the permission forms for the Jogathon have been turned in. If you have yours at home please return signed by Wednesday. Our school policy is: children cannot participate without a signed permission form.

A couple of students told me they did not receive an envelope, we sent out the white Jogathon envelopes a couple of weeks ago labeled with your child’s name. If it is not found at home, please let me know.

The Speech Contest is next Monday, April 18 at 10:30 for students K-5 grade. I will choose 5 or 6 finalists on Thursday of this week.  In Kindergarten, this is a choice, many children are not ready to participate in the contest. We are having fun reciting nursery rhymes and poems in class.  A handful of students do want to be in the contest and already have their poems memorized! If your child wants to participate, please send in a copy by Wednesday, this helps with practice in class.

Three birthday girls to celebrate before Easter. Jo Jo’s sixth birthday is Friday, the day of the Jogathon, Gabriella is turning six on Palm Sunday, and Catherine will be six on April 22, Earth Day!

Our academics follow the regular schedule. Religion discussions, Bible stories, and project for Palm Sunday. Language Arts:  sound of  short vowel /o/, the ‘ot’ and ‘ox’ family words, letter Xx, sound and words, reading  strategies are ‘questioning’  as we read to better understand story components: characters, setting, problem, and solution.  Math continues with adding 1 and 2 to numbers 0-10. Science and Social Studies will focus on our Earth, landforms, natural resources, and ways to keep our planet clean.

Have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Carol Brown
