Dear Kindergarten Parents,

We are off to a great start!  Enjoy a few snapshots of our first three days:

Please join us for Back to School Night on Wednesday evening at 6:30! – This is an important meeting for parents or guardians. Academics and Common Core standards, School-wide Learning Expectations, homework, service hours, field trips, and motor skills will be discussed.

Back to School Potluck is on Friday at 5:30 – details and sign – ups were sent home last Wednesday in the school family envelope.

August starts off with celebrating Joseph’s birthday, August 29!

ACADEMICS

Religion: Welcomes are Good! The first chapter in our religion books.

ELA: Read aloud stories, alphabet activities, rhymes, print practice and center routines.

Math: counting by 1’s, 10’s and 100’s; number sequence, place value, graphing, and math vocabulary (ones, tens, hundreds and number of the day).

Science:  Tuesday is our first lab. Soil is the topic, we will explore humus and graph our findings.

Social Studies: Understanding and practicing good citizenship!

Music: Monday and Wednesday morning.

Motor skills: Monday – Thursday

Friday – art/craft  lesson

This week we begin full days. Rest time begins – make sure your child has a small towel (that fits into a gallon size zip lock bag).
