The 8th grade read two primary sources from people that were on the Trail of Tears. A young Native American boy and a soldier. After discussing it they drew pictures to represent the event. We will continue to read about the trails west and the settling of territories.
The 8th graders reviewed the 4 Marks of the Church last week. They are One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. The class discussed ways to practice the marks, including showing others our faith by being an active part of our community, praying, and receiving the Sacraments.
The Song dynasty used inspiration from nature to make beautiful landscape paintings. The 7th grade worked hard on painting ethereal and serene nature scenes. We are almost finished with the China dynasties. Then we are going back in time to Europe!

The 8 grade class is learning about the Corps of Discovery and their 3 year odyssey to connect the interior of our nation to the Pacific Ocean. The class is taking notes, reading a novel, and recreating some journal entries with drawings. Lastly we will watch the Lewis and Clark National Geographic movie.
As the 7th grade class closes their study of Ancient Japan, they created beautiful Zen gardens. We listened to traditional Japanese music and created a peaceful setting with a few plants and rocks. The gardens came out very unique and we all felt very calm and Zen like when they were completed.

The 7th grade class is currently studying the history and culture of Japan. We learned about their love of nature and poetry. The students wrote their names in Japanese and then chose a landscape scene to write a haiku about. They also illustrated their beautiful poems.
The 7th grade class researched Christmas traditions around the world. Then they decorated Christmas trees with the country’s flag and ornaments that reflect the traditions, geography and culture of the country. Each classroom received a tree. Merry Christmas!
