Dear Kindergarten Parents,

Happy Monday!

This week our religion lessons begin with our helping hands as gifts of love.  Our Bible story centers on Jesus’ healing touch and the two blind men. We will give examples of how we can be like Jesus and help others with our hands.

Our letter/sound focus this week is /c/ and short /a/ words. We will begin identifying nouns and verbs as we write sentences. Valentine’s Day themed ELA word work, reading, and sentence structure will be a part of our learning centers this week.

Everyday Math has us reviewing measurement as we use our arms, hands, and feet  comparing  with standard 12″ foot cutout from our book. Terms we will be using: measure, foot, heel to toe. Counting with money, math stories, and tally marks continue on in our center activities.

Last week we designed and built the wire frames for the landforms. This week I hope to cover the forms with paper mache. Thank you for using World Book Web as a research tool when helping your child with homework. The information gathered will be displayed at our School Fair along with pictures and animal data comparisons.

Social studies continues with recognizing Black History month and several important American leaders. We will also begin a chapter on the presidents this week and next as we celebrate President’s Day on Monday.

Valentine’s Day is Friday and our class party! Dismissal at 12:00.

No school on Monday for President’s Day!

Next Thursday, your children will have a workshop from the Discovery Center.  RAYS (Reading Awakes Young Scientists) is a great learning experience for your children. Our workshop is called “Hey, Little Ant”.  For more information click on Discovery Center drop down box  “events/programs” –  look for RAYS.

The RAYS workshop is on campus and will cost $8.00. Look for envelopes coming home on Monday. Please return by Tuesday, February  18.

Enjoy your week!
