Dear Kindergarten Families,

Our weather has finally changed! Sunday we were graced with this beautiful rainbow. This week we need to return the  ‘Mathematics at Home’ book 2 for a sticker. Book 3 will be coming home on Tuesday. Book 3 begins this week and should be returned on April 11.

A big thank you is in order. My kinder families were so very thoughtful with flowers, cookies, cards, and pictures for teacher appreciation day during Catholic Schools Week.  I truly appreciate you and your children! Also the eighth grade leaders really outdid themselves with the carnival on Friday. We had a great time last week!

Mass this week is on Thursday as we have a day off on Friday. Please join us if your schedule permits.  Chapter 14, Hearts are Good will be our religion focus. Love is that special gift God has put in our hearts. Your students realize this  showing care and concern each day for others. This will pair with the Children’s Bible and Jesus’ love for his friends as he shares a large catch of fish with his disciples. SLE’s for the week B.5 Know what we do well and C. 5 Are good leaders.

ELA letter focus this week is /v/. Our  reading strategy is to predict and infer as we read our big book stories. Thus far we have been working on beginning sounds. Listening for that sound at the end of words is important now. Also we are learning every word must have a vowel.  Sentence structure, sight word journal writing, science and social studies vocabulary, and continued practice on our letter formation the components of ELA.

Everyday Math has us working on number stories, addition and subtraction, measurement, and many games to help reinforce these concepts.

Science lab on Tuesday will continue with properties of water as we predict what will sink and float. We will be thinking like a scientist – working in our journal and experimenting with objects in water.

February is Black History month. Social studies gives us a look at great leaders and inventors as we discover men and women that made many important changes in our country.

That should take us through Thursday!

Blessings,

Mrs. Carol Brown
