Dear Parents,                          February 27, 2017

Here is what first graders are doing this week…

Language Arts: We will be working on adding details and comparisons in our informative writings. In phonics this week, we are focusing on the vowel pairs “oo”, “ue”, “ew” and “ou” and long /i/ sound spelled “ie” and “igh”. We will not have new spelling words this week.

Math: We are beginning our new unit on geometry! We will begin by discussing attributes and polygons.

Science: We are back to science! We are starting Chapter 4: Kinds of Environments. We will begin with vocabulary and discussing what lives along the coast.

Social Studies: We finish our final lessons and will be taking our unit test by the end of the week!

Religion: We were unable to do our religion lessons from last week, as we prepared for the school fair. Therefore we will spend this week catching up.

Homework for the Week: (Don’t forget to read every night!)

  • Monday: IXL.com Skill V.1
  • Tuesday: Math Worksheet
  • Wednesday: Math Worksheet
  • Thursday: Math Worksheet
  • Friday: Read 2 times!

  • Friday is a full-day of school, our Read Across America celebration, and the final day of the second trimester!

Have a wonderful week!
