Dear Parents,                     November 23, 2015

We have much to be thankful for on this Thanksgiving week and at the top of my list is YOU! Thank you for all your support and for sharing your children with me. They make me smile everyday!

Language Arts: This is a very short week and therefore we will concentrate on the “Thanksgiving” theme in language arts through a number of writing, comparing and contrasting, and sequencing activities.

Spelling: We will be reviewing words with clusters this week. There will not be a test or the usual spelling homework.

Math: We are taking time this week to review all that we have learned in Unit 4: Measurement and Basic Facts!

Religion: We will be finishing our chapter from last week: God Promised a Savior.

Social Studies: Within Social Studies this week, First Grade will be performing our Readers’ Theatre play about the First Thanksgiving. The play is not memorized but instead read from a script. We will wear simple costume pieces that we made. Our performance will be held Wednesday, November 25th at 11:30 in our classroom. Our sixth grade buddies will be attending and parents are welcome to attend as well. If your child will not be present for class on Wednesday please let me know as soon as possible as every student has a part and we will need to rearrange if necessary.

Homework for the Week:

  • Monday: Practice Social Studies Play
  • Tuesday: Practice Social Studies Play
  • Wednesday: Read, Read, Read!

Reminders for the Week:

  • PE Uniforms on Tuesday!
  • Please remind your child to bring their library book on Tuesday so that they may check out a new one.
  • Wednesday is a noon dismissal!
  • No school on Thursday or Friday!

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Have a blessed Thanksgiving week with your loved ones!

                                                     Ms. Manning
