Here’s what we are learning in first grade this week!

Language Arts: We are continuing on with Readers and Writers Workshop. In addition, we will also be focusing on specific phonetic skills. This week, we will be highlighting the sounds associated with the letters j (jump), q (queen), z (zebra), and u (umbrella).

Math: We will be starting our Unit 3! We will start with recognizing visual patterns and work towards exploring number patterns, shape patterns, and number grid patterns.

Science: We are taking a mini break from our textbooks to focus on a few nocturnal animals!

Social Studies: We are continuing on with our second unit. We will be working on finding home addresses on a map.

Religion: This week we are reading chapter 7 from our textbooks: We Pray to God Our Father.

Homework for the Week: (Don’t forget to read every night!)

  • Monday: Rainbow Write and Math Worksheet
  • Tuesday: Spelling p. 81 & 83 and Math Worksheet
  • Wednesday: Spelling p. 84-85 and Math Worksheet
  • Thursday: Spelling p. 86 and Math Worksheet
  • Friday: Read 2 times!

Reminders for the Week:

  • Coming home on Monday is a field trip permission slip! Please return by next Tuesday!
  • PE Uniforms on Tuesday and Thursday
  • Wednesday is School Picture Retake!
  • Please remember to remind your student to bring their library book on Thursday so that they may check out another one. 
  • Friday is a half-day!
