Dear Parents,                          November 14, 2016

Here’s what we are doing in First Grade!

Language Arts: In Writers Workshop we are putting the final touches on our writings. We will have a “Publishing Party” on Friday where our Fourth Grade friends will come over to share in our writings. Our theme for our party is a coffee shop! In addition, we will also be focusing on specific phonetic skills. This week, we will be focusing on clusters with s (sled, stop, snap) and silent letters (knock, write, gnat). Our spelling words will be practicing the clusters with s and will come from Unit 15 in our books.

Math: We will be jumping into measurements. We will begin by reviewing thermometers and then will continue with nonstandard and standard feet.

Science: We are still on break from science as we continue our practice of our thanksgiving play in Social Studies!

Social Studies: We are continuing with our practice of our thanksgiving play. We will be performing our play on Wednesday November 23 at 11:30am. We will be performing in our classroom. Please come join us for our show if your schedule permits!

Religion: This week we are reading from our textbooks. Our chapter, God Promised a Savior, will continue through next week.
