Dear Parents,                          January 9, 2017

Here’s what we are learning…

Language Arts: We are practicing our informative writing in our Writers Workshop. In phonics this week, we are focusing on CVCe (consonant, vowel, consonant, silent e) words with long /a/. The silent e says “Hey ‘a’! Say your name!” Our spelling words come from Unit 20 and there are a lot of them this week! We have turned the corner into 12 spelling words! Two of those words are the challenge words!

Math: We are making our way through unit 5! We continue to practice our base ten blocks, part-part-totals, and will begin number stories.

Science: We are wrapping up our third chapter. We will be taking our test on Tuesday.

Social Studies: We are still working from our unit -Living in a Community. We will be learning how to find directions on a map and we will discuss how communities change.

Religion: This week we are discussing Chapter 13 – Jesus Calls Apostles.
