Dear Parents,                          January 30, 2017

I hope all had a wonderful weekend! It was great to see so many of you on Friday for our Parents Day! Thank you to all who came; your children were beyond excited to share the day with you.

Language Arts: We are pushing ourselves with our informative writing! We are continuing to work with partners as we look for ways to teach our readers. In phonics this week, we are focusing on long /e/ and vowel pairs “ee” and “ea”. As we practice the vowel pairs, remind your child, “When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking!” For example, in the words “heat”, “peach”, and “team” the “e” makes the long /e/ sound because it is paired with a second vowel “a”. The “a” remains silent. Our spelling words come from Unit 28 and will focus on the vowel pairs “ee” and “ea”.

Math: We are beginning unit 6! We are learning about equivalent names and fact families! Oh, how fun!

Science: We are still on our little break from Science as we continue work on our school fair project.

Social Studies: We are ready to start our travels! We will be headed to our first two countries this week!

Religion: This week we are working from our textbook – Chapter 15: Jesus Teaches Us to Love God.
