Dear Parents,                          September 5, 2017

Here’s what we are learning in first grade this week!

Language Arts: We are continuing on with Readers and Writers Workshop. In addition, we will also be focusing on specific phonetic skills. This week, we will be highlighting the sounds associated with the letters m (monkey), s (sat), c (cat), t (tap), and a (apple).

Math: We will be learning to read thermometers, work on number stories, and will be ready to take our first math test by the end of the week!

Science: We are learning about the parts of plants this week!

Social Studies: We are working from our first unit titled “School Days”. Within this unit for the week we will be learning about our classroom and how to learn from a picture map.

Religion: We had a delay in beginning our Chapter 1 within our textbook. This week we will begin as we discuss Jesus being our friend.
