Fourth and fifth grades attended a musical, Ellis Island, yesterday at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center.  Some students thought it was “wonderful”, others were not so taken.  I thought it was a great opportunity to discuss musical theatre!

This week we begin to read and discuss chapter 9 of social studies, “Challenges for California.”   Earth science brings us to “Rapid Changes on Earth” and the study of earthquakes, volcanoes, and landslides.  Geometry is studied for math.  Religion’s topic this week is venial and mortal sin (should have some good discussions on that!)  We are still learning about pronouns during English, as well as completing the informative essay process.  Our novel will come to an end and the students are in for a few surprises from Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler!

There will be a vocabulary test on the words from chapters 5 through 10 of the novel.  It will be given on Friday.

I would like to have a copy of the paragraph the students have written for our wax museum night.  Could you please assist in getting that to me?  You may attach it in an email if that is easier.

Congratulations to the five students chosen from fourth grade to attend the speech finals.  They are: Alyssa, Joshua, Devin, Martin, and Sam.

Have a blessed week!

Mrs. Sharon Redmond
