This week we will complete our geometry unit.  I am encouraging the students to take their books home daily to review the terms and concepts learned.  The test for this unit will be next Tuesday, May 22nd.

The students have been working together to perform a variety of readers theatre presentations.  We are working on reading with the appropriate expression, intonation, and pacing.  They are all enjoying this and I have already noticed an improvement in these areas for most students.

We have begun reading Judy Blume’s Superfudge. Some of the reading will be done independently with discussions about the literature in class.  You will see the book go home as I assign readings for homework.  This is a book all fourth grade students should be able to read and comprehend with ease.

At 2:00 on Wednesday afternoon we will participate in our annual May Crowning.  Please join us if you are free.  Our religion discussions and activities will reinforce what we have discussed about the Ten Commandments this year.

I have received wax museum paragraphs from most students.  Please make sure I get one from your child.  The children should also be working on their presentation boards and gathering attire and props for our June 13th event.  Their efforts for this endeavor will be calculated as part of their final social studies grades.

This Friday  I will give an English quiz focusing on the usage of pronouns.

Next Thursday, May 24th will be our chapter 9 social studies test.

Friday is a full day.  Our class will be treated to a drum presentation given by the Arts Educational Outreach Program.  Also that afternoon will be Families.

Have a blessed week!

Mrs. Sharon Redmond
