It was great to have so many grandparents with us last Friday.  I enjoyed watching the interaction as students and grandparents worked on their art masterpieces!

This week in grade 4:

Math:  Wednesday will be our first math chapter test...chapter one

Social Studies:  We will read about and discuss California’s climate and natural resources.  I am scheduling the chapter one social studies (vocabulary) test for next Thursday, September 22nd.

English: This week we will review unit one “The Sentence.”  I will give a short quiz on subjects and predicates on Friday.

Religion: This week’s question will be, “What does the Holy Spirit call Catholics to do through the church?”

Spelling:  Unit 4, words with long and short o sounds

Reminders:  Wednesday is picture day, students wear their uniforms. All students should be reading a book for the book report.  The book needs to be completed and in class on before next  Wednesday, September 21st.

Our first field trip is scheduled for Friday, October 28th.  We are going by bus to La Purisima Mission and will be visiting the mission for student learning day.  Lots of hands on activities will be enjoyed that day!  More information to follow.

A reminder that homework consists of accelerated math and multiplication fact practice nightly.  Students also have vocabulary to review/study every night.  Look in your child’s homework folder for vocabulary words for reading, social studies, and science.

Please feel free to email me at fourthgrade@sacredheartschoolventura.org if you have any questions.
