Dear Parents,            January 2, 2013

Happy New Year!  I hope that you all enjoyed a peaceful, restful, and blessed Christmas. I want to thank everyone for the wonderful gifts and warm thoughts sent my way – I truly felt the blessings of the season.

A new year – and what a school year we have planned! For these three days, we will be spending our time reviewing and getting back into the groove of school. In Language Arts we will be reviewing contractions, asking and telling sentences, as well as beginning our Writers Workshop! We will also spend a few moments going over our past spelling words. As we are coming back to school on a Wednesday, we will not be testing for sight words until next week. As a reminder, all students are tested on their sight words once a week (Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday). Students are to know the words by sight within 3 seconds. I am challenging the students by asking for the meaning of the words on key sight words. This will help with building our reading comprehension. As always, your student receives a new packet only if all words are mastered, this includes knowing the assigned words within 3 seconds and knowing the meaning of the key sight words.

Within math, we will be working on reviewing addition facts, fact families, and double facts. In religion we will be reviewing and wrapping up our lessons on the Magi and the importance of the Holy Family. On our full Friday we will finally have a chance to wrap up our Pointillism art project – how exciting!

Reminders for the week:

–    Friday is a full day!

Have a wonderful week!

Miss. Manning
