Dear Kindergarten families,

The ‘All About Me’ stars look great. Looks as many parents are finding the sites working and reading quite a bit! One thing I noticed, to use the free version of Starfall, you need to be on a laptop or a desktop machine. Devices only offer a bit of Starfall unless you subscribe- the yearly fee is 35 dollars.

  • Required homework :  reading log,  sight word practice, printing name, and ixl math – find links below

Read nightly and list books or chapters on reading log. It is fine to list a couple of books if your child listens to on the StoryLine website. Remember that special time spent reading together is the key to success in your child’s school career.  Click here for Reading Log

Giraffe Sight Work booklets are in the folder- these are to keep at home and practice a little each day- each child will move through the book at their own pace. In class, we will be working on sight words list 1, to help us read and write.

This week if your child needs extra practice with writing their name in the correct case, you will find a printing paper in the homework folder. Please have  your child practice their name at least 3 or 4 times. Return this paper with the reading log.

Please spend sometime on these websites about 10 to 20 minutes per week- It is not important for your children to complete each IXL sections – work as it is comfortable in your family schedule. ABC Match is  helpful to matching pictures to letters. Paint for Peace is fun if your child enjoys coloring- select a picture “God’s Gift” matches our learning at this point with Creation.

Websites:

IXL C.13 (Counting forward up to ten)

IXL F.3 (Skip counting by 10’s)

extra learning and fun sites:

ABC Match

Paint for Peace

Starfall is an excellent site for beginning reading learning and practice – use this site if you can reach it successfully.

Enjoy your weekend – cooler temps ahead 🙂
