Dear Kindergarten Families,

This week let’s work again on printing, this time our weeks letters, Ss-Vv (upper and lower case). Included in the homework folder, along with the printing is a number grid that follows our Everyday Math series. We are working in class to identify numbers to 0-110 on the grid and we follow the number line to 100. A game we play is to cover a few numbers and have students figure out what is hiding under the post-it. Use this chart at home to help your children identify numbers. Use it for counting, by 1s, 5s and 10s. Count from numbers other than one, a Common Core math standard we are working on.

Of course read nightly for 15- 20 minutes for continued success while reading do a sight word search!

Extra sites for fun and reading practice

Starfall ABCs or Read to Learn levels

Roy the Zebra -days of the week sight word practice

Dr. Seuss games — fun – explore games (lots of bandwidth in this site allow time to load)

This week I had a chance to get all students logged in the computer lab. I am noticing most struggle with the mouse and many children cannot find the letters of their last name. We will continue to work on this – extra help at home will really help with this process. Continue to spend time letting your child use the mouse. It is fine to use iPad or devices for some of the homework – please spend a little time with the mouse.

Please know some sites can be challenging, I aim to meet all students learning levels. Find what fits your child needs,  use what is comfortable – my goal is  to make the learning sites fun!

Enjoy your weekend!
