Dear Kindergarten Families,
The first of the year we are learning about our class friends. Please complete the My “Me” Cube with your child. We started coloring neatly at school, I am hoping to see your child’s best efforts with this project. Because it is difficult to draw in the small areas, I am suggesting to find pictures of favorite foods, sports, toys, etc in newspapers or magazines. Although, drawings are acceptable! Add a picture of your child and your family on each side, these can be photos or drawings. These cubes will stay at school as we play games to learn about each other and to share with our buddies. Eventually they will return home for your child to keep.
Our math homework is to use the ‘bundle’ of ten sticks to count by 1’s, 2’s, and 5’s. Bundling is a great coordination skill for their little hands. It is difficult-we have practiced a little bundling for motor skills. These sticks are for your child keep at home, help them to count and practice this skill.
Please continue to read nightly, record book/time on the log. I am happy to see so many reading each week and enjoying the websites. Some sites require ‘Java’ or ‘Adobe flash’ to work properly. These are free to download.
