Dear Kindergarten families,

Looking at this week …….

The Discovery Center bring us the RAYS program (Reading Awakens Young Scientists), on Thursday titled “Hey. Little Ant”. Your child decorated an envelope for this event. Please return this payment envelope by Wednesday.

Primary Centers on Friday, begins at 10:20 -parent volunteers can come at 10:00 to help with set up. Please check in at the office. Friday is also a 12:00 dismissal.

Faith focus: learning the importance of making good choices.  A.4  Making good choices like Jesus is our SLE  guideline for this week.

ELA – Blending sounds as we segment words;  focus letter /g/; short /a/; and simple CVC words to take apart and blend sound together; story structure reviewing beginning, middle, and end; summarizing read aloud stories, informational text for our science and social studies readings; and print practice.

EM – Using the addition symbol for writing story problems and number sentences; extending patterns  practice and being able to describe that pattern; counting from any given number other than zero or one. Learning number words to twenty.

Science – outreach program “Hey, Little Ant” has us thinking like a scientist using our five senses to discover and record data. Daily we are reading about and describing our senses.

Social studies – learning about Martin Luther King, Jr. and his dream for all people.

Library books need to be returned by Wednesday of each week. After reading is best to get your child in  the habit of putting the book in their backpack, it is so easy to misplace a book among other books at home. I know it has happened in class!

Parent’s Day is January 29 –  Mrs. Benner’s posted information on our site.

The Hundredth Day of School (Jan. 20) is fast approaching …..  your child will need 100 small items…. look for a special bag (size of a lunch bag) coming home for homework this week – remember to bag items in groups of 5’s, 10’s, 20’s or 25’s label and put in 100 day bag stapled or sealed with tape.

This should take us through the week.

Thank you for your children!

Mrs. Carol Brown
