Dear Kindergarten Families,

It was wonderful to have so many parents and grandparents visit on Friday!

Parent’s Day was the beginning of Catholic Schools Week and will continue through Friday of this week.  We are encouraging families to bring non-perishable food items and toys, books, puzzles or games for local families in our area. Gently used books or toys will be accepted. The paper bags are coming home this week – please drop off items in red bins in front of school.

Tuesday is Teacher and Staff Appreciation day –

Wednesday is Student Appreciation day! This is a free-free dress and Mrs. Benner treats everyone with a hamburger lunch! If your child does not care for hamburgers please send them with a lunch. Mrs. Benner could use parent help for lunch — double service hours !

***** WEDNESDAY is also the 100th Day of School !! ******

PLEASE BRING IN 100 DAY BAGS ON WEDNESDAY

We will show appreciation for our parish on Thursday with food items and toys for Sacred Heart’s food pantry.

Friday is a full day of school, school families in the afternoon and a special treat from 8th grade leaders.

Academics for this fun week!

Religion we will review Jesus the Good Shepherd. The message of CSW is to learn, serve,  lead and succeed. We will be discussing and listing things we can do to be the best version of ourselves.

We will start a new sort for phonics – all about rhyming letters! Segmenting and sounding out words to help us with our reading skills. Reading workshop will focus learning to read the “old favorites” (Three Billy Goats Gruff, Three Little Pigs, Little Red Hen, etc). One of our  strategies is to use a ‘storytellers’ voice when reading.  Writers workshop will continue to focus on word spacing, adding to the piece, details with illustrations, beginning, middle, ending pages for our narrative writing.

Math we will do LOTS OF COUNTING, measuring items by weight and height, addition problems, and number formation.

Science -migration and the mammoth

Social Studies we will follow on the world map migration patterns of birds and mammals.

This should take us through the week! Look for my February calendar for Primary Center and library sign ups coming soon……..

God bless your families,

Mrs. Brown
