This week we continue with extra music practices, preparing for the intermediate spring program, which is this Wednesday, April 27th, at 6:30 p.m. Students are to wear “Western” style clothing: jeans, collared shirts, hats, bandanas, boots; whatever is available at home!  Come and enjoy our young singers and performers!

Wednesday is also our Farm Day excursion to Atlas School to learn more about agriculture; please sign the permission slip if you have not done so already. Students should wear sunscreen, as they will be outside for an extended period of time.  They may bring hats.  We ask that everyone bring a snack and drink in a disposable bag for snack time.  We will leave shortly after attendance is taken, so it is very important to come to school on time.  Parents are welcome to attend Farm Day.

Those who have not done so already will be reciting their poems this week, either on Tuesday or Thursday; five finalists will be selected to compete against the fifth graders next Tuesday in the Speech Contest finals for grades 4-7.

What we are working on this week:

Religion: We continue discussing the seventh and tenth commandments and working on our ten commandments booklets. Only one commandment left!

Grammar: We continue our work with adjectives.

Writing Workshop: We are selecting essay topics and writing thesis statements and bullet points for each possible topic.

Vocabulary: We begin our study of Unit 15 words; the test will be next week.

Reading: The reading log will be due next Monday (click here for a copy) reading log nouns verbs and Fluency Homework #30 will be due next Monday as well.

Social Studies: We will review what we learned about the Mexican-American War and the Gold Rush and prepare a study sheet. We will have a quiz on this material on Friday.
