Dear Kindergarten Parents,

It’s been one of those weeks! Several questions have come to me concerning homework. If you are having trouble getting into  Easy CBM and/or  Spelling City, please send me an email this will help me find what to do for each issue. Some families are finding all works fine.

On Monday, five kindergarten friends went as finalists to judging. It was sure hard to choose! This year all kinders memorized a poem and did a great job reciting in class. The finalists are: Fiona, Lorenzo M., Caleb, Lorenzo P. and Andrew.   We should know by Friday who won in the Kindergarten and First Grade category.

Remember that Jogathon is just next Friday! Please send in permission slips. A few cute posters have come in – keep them coming – they really look great. Please contribute as you can – it is a big fundraiser for our school.  Parents are encouraged to come join us and jog along!

Important Catholic events:

The First Grade students will do the honor of Crowning Mary  directly after Mass on Friday.

The Second Grade students are making their First Communion this Saturday at 10:00.

As always please join us if your schedule permits.

Our Academic week:

Religion– Jesus is our light and how we share that light of love with others. Readings from the Children’s Bible. As socially-maturing individuals our SLE focus: C.1 To take care of God’s World and C.2 To tell the truth.

ELA– Theme 9 finds us with a focus on decoding short /e/ words; sounds for letters Ww and Yy and correct letter formation. Strategies are to evaluate; predict and infer; comprehension skills are looking at story structure: characters and settings.

EM – Section 7 – Class collections- please send in small stickers if you have a few at home,  this week we are using a collection to record, classify data by using tally marks and noting how many new stickers and how many all together. We are making a class number story book drawing pictures to solve math stories. An activity with geometric shapes – connecting to make 2 and 3 Dimensional shapes. And introducing the quarter in terms counting and exchanging coins.

Science – water – taking care of our Earth’s resource.

Social studies – continuing on with our unit on Patriotic Symbols.

This should take us through the remainder of the week!

Thank you for choosing our school 😉
