Week of June 18-22, 2012

Dear Second Grade Families,

We made it. This is the last week of our second grade year. We thank you for entrusting your children to us for this year of jam-packed learning. We have seen lots of growth. We have worked hard and had fun.

Check the website for the summer program planned by the third grade teacher. Keep reading with your child. Check out the local libraries and booksellers for story times and reading activities. Keep working with your child to memorize addition and subtraction facts, adding and subtracting 2 and 3 digit numbers with and without regrouping. The life skills of telling time and counting money are important also. Check out the great family summer activities, (museums, tours, plays, zoos, etc.). Your child needs to have unstructured playtime. Continue to play outside. Remember that God does not go on vacation. Your child needs to continue working on mass manners; sitting, praying, listening, receiving Jesus in the Eucharist.

Have a great summer with family and friends. Make some memories.

While this is the last week, we still have many things to do. Look for practice books and desk materials to start coming home. We will be finishing up projects and cleaning up around the classroom.

Monday we will have an assembly, and have a fun afternoon with a school wide field day.

Tuesday will be a “normal” day including PE. This is the day yearbooks for grades K-5 will be distributed.

Wednesday will be a mass celebrating our graduating 8th graders.

Thursday is spirit day. Your child will have free dress, including tennis shoes, as there will be outdoor activities. Dismissal will be 12:00.

Friday is our last day and we will have mass. Report cards will be handed out. (If you child will not be at school on this day, you can pick up the report card at the office that afternoon or the following week). And dismissal will be about 10:00 am.

Have a wonderful summer. Continue to check the school website for further developments and news.
