For the first trimester we were raising money for the less fortunate families in Los Angeles.  One of our first fundraisers was water sales.  Students came to the eighth grade class to buy water for $1.00.  We did this for a month and raised about $239!  Donut sales were next, and the students paid $1.00 but for a donut this time.  From this we raised $118.50.  During the Halloween season we had removable Halloween tattoos which were 50 cents each.  We raised about $284.  On certain days of the trimester we had free dress.  This is where students pay a dollar to wear something other than their uniform.  Sometimes it had a theme such as the Halloween theme.  After the 3rd of October we raised $381.00.  For a side fundraiser we did something called the Kiwanis Wishing Well.  It is like the well at the Santa Barbara Zoo where someone puts a coin in the slot and it spirals down into a hole.  It was placed in our library and students added money here and there.  We raised around $220 for the Kiwanis Club, which supports Penfield School and the children’s wing of the hospital.  For the second trimester we are raising money to support relief efforts in Haiti, through the Holy Childhood Association.  Thanks for helping us!
