Dear Kindergarten Parents,

It is finally here.  Our first bus field trip. Today we are going to learn outside of school — and it will be a lot of fun!

Green Thumb will show us many types of plants-from fruit bearing trees and vegetable plants to landscaping vegetation. We will also look at soils and come home with a plant.

Albertson’s Grocery Store sponsors a Healthy Eaters program. Touring the store while teaching children about healthy foods complete with samples from the cereal, produce, meat, and dairy isles. This will lead into a nutrition program in class for the next couple of weeks.

An overview of academics this week:

Religion- As we continue through the season of  Lent, last week we made beautiful cards for the patients at the Victoria Care Center. We will continue to think of others in loving, kind ways. Our religion focus is from our text  Chapter 16, Being Sorry is Good. This chapter will help us to understand forgiveness.

  • Stations of the Cross on Wednesday @ 2:00 — please join us if your schedule permits.

Language Arts lessons focus on initial consonant /l/, blending CVC words with short vowel /i/. Reading to understand plot in our story for the week and finishing up our winter journals. Math continues with measurement and common core centers – word problems and number sequencing through 100.

Science will take us into health lessons following Healthy Eaters program and the food pyramid. We will be caring for, recording in our outside journals, measure, and note changes with our little corn and cucumber plants. Our lab on Thursday could bring more fun with the landforms.

Friday is a noon dismissal

Hard to believe, next Monday starts the third trimester-

Have a nice warm week!

Mrs. Carol Brown
