Dear Kindergarten Families,

Our long awaited field trip is almost here! Permission slips are available for children who have been absent. Please check your email.

Tuesday is our trip to the farm at Hansen Agricultural Center. The ground will be muddy please have your child wear older shoes, jeans, school shirt and since it may be chilly our school jacket or sweater.

Stations of the Cross is on Wednesday at 2:oo families are always welcome!

Thursday we have another outreach program from the Discovery Center, “Music over Manhattan”. We will be using the scientific method and our five senses as we explore vibration. Please look for a beautifully decorated payment envelope coming home today. Cost is $8.00.

Friday morning is Mass at 8:30 and as always join us if your schedule permits. We are also having Primary Centers. I am in need of a few more parents/grandparents to come help us. Note:  If you met your service hour obligation, it is fine to continue helping  with our class.

Religion lessons continue with Lent. Learning about Jesus’ life through His teachings, miracles, and parables. Text focus is on forgiveness. We are learning to explore our feelings and emotions. SLE that pairs well with this lesson and will be taught is C.3 Follow the Golden Rule.

Letter/sound for this week is /z/ and a review of /p/ and /l/. Short vowel ‘i’ and word families. At this time of year we are reading words by sight and segmenting words. Please help your child with the skill of blending and segmenting when reading together. Reading strategy focus it to monitor, clarify and using comprehension skill cause and effect for stories read aloud in class.

Math is mostly about measurement. We will be using standard and non standard units to compare objects measured. Counting by 5’s and playing a game where objects represent numbers and making exchanges.

Our five senses will be our science learning and mixing color.

We did not get to physically map for social studies last week- we’ll work on that skill this week!

That about wraps it up!

If you have any questions – feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your children,

Mrs. Carol Brown
