Dear Kindergarten Parents,

I hope everyone had a nice weekend and many of our classmates are feeling better. It is hard to believe we have only one trimester left in this school year!

Mass on Ash Wednesday as we begin our Lenten journey.

Faith concepts and virtues for religion: Our gift of life from God. The ways we care for family, friends, and all living things.  Taking care of our feeling in positive ways and sharing feelings by talking and praying. We will begin Virtus lessons, learning the importance of saying ‘no’ to strangers.

Our strategy focus for reading this week is to evaluate, predict outcome and plot.  Phonemic awareness: segment and blend words, continuing with sound of short /i/ and /a/. Initial consonant Q, q- alpha friend Queenie Queen, reviewing h, l, Hattie Horse and Larry Lion. Print concepts: capitalize first word in sentence and ending punctuation. Sight words covered in our reading series are “is” and “here”. Weather action words are used for daily vocabulary and writing skills. Math concepts continue with measurement, this week we focus on ordering, comparing weight and capacities. Science and Social Studies work together as we study water, our natural resource and the three states of water.

Mardi Gras donuts on Tuesday this week!  Friday is Primary Centers with a noon dismissal.

Next week Carla’s birthday, on March 17, Saint Patrick’s Day!

Have a great week,

Mrs. Carol Brown
