Dear Kindergarten Families,

What a great time we had Friday’s Jog-a-thon! Thank you for making  this fundraiser successful 🙂

Religion – This week we continue praying the rosary. I am sending home a rosary for your children on Friday. We will also discuss Pentecost and the Holy Spirit.

ELA – Lots of work with blending and segmenting words. We are readers! Focus on short vowels /e/ and /u/; word families; beginning and ending sounds; spelling sorts reviewing consonant sounds with pictures. Reading strategies organizing our thoughts – by categorizing and classifying and retelling story by beginning, middle and end.

EM – Place value, time to the hour; reviewing the class collection chart; and solving number sentences with collection of beads.

Science – understanding and playing to learn about magnets – reading informational text on magnets.

Social studies – American symbols – this week Bald Eagle! Informational text booklet to support this learning.

***This is the last week to check out library books- after that we are making sure all books are back at school!***

🙂 We have one more field trip on May 31, to Arroyo Verde Park focus learning: Chumash people. We will be going with our 5th grade buddies. We will have a time learning with our group then together with 5th grade for Native American games. Two permission slips are required, one is a wavier for the City of Ventura and our school form. Please look for the slips and $ amount coming home later this week.

Blessings to your families,

Mrs. Carol Brown
