Dear Kindergarten Parents,

It was nice seeing all the families who were able to come join us for In-N-Out/Dippin Dots lunch on Friday. Thank all of you for supporting our school fundraiser. It was a great time!

We have a shortened week as Friday begins the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Thinking ahead for this week –

*Monday and Tuesday will be working hard on our academics. -Religion brings us to an understanding of the invisible reality -the Holy Spirit and being good stewards for the Earth.  Beginning new units in ELA and  EM. Social studies will focus on Memorial Day. Science continues with water and conservation.

*Wednesday is a free dress – please be as generous as you can – all proceeds go directly to the relief fund for earthquakes victims in Nepal.

*Thursday is the Powder Puff football game at 2:00- we will watch the eighth grade students reverse rolls as they play flag football.

*Friday is a day off school as well as Monday.

ELA – short vowel /u/ and words that rhyme with ‘ug’ and initial consonant /j/. Comprehension focus – story structure – beginning, middle, and end. As we listen to read aloud stories drawing conclusions, making judgements, cause and effect are our strategies for supporting comprehension. Exact naming words for animals and other things will be an exercise we will list, discuss, and write about.

EM- place value, telling time, and one dollar and ten dollar bills.

Science – water and their movement of molecules.

Social studies – Memorial day facts and meaning and finishing up our National Symblos.

Please return library books so your child can check out a new one.

Thank you for your children,

Mrs. Carol Brown
