Dear Kindergarten Families,

I am hoping all families had a wonderful day celebrating with their mom’s on Sunday.

Monday is our field trip, we are all excited and ready! Don’t forget to send lunch in a bag and a water bottle (8 to 12 oz is plenty).  We will provide a snack.

Tuesday is the Speech and Poetry presentations for K-5 grades at 10:30. Our kindergarten friend, Alfonso was selected first place!! All our finalists did an amazing job! Every student worked hard practicing their poems and did very well reciting in class.

Wednesday is a free dress – please send in $1.00 – All money collected will help support the earthquake victims in Ecuador.

The JOGATHON is Friday – which is a half day of school!

Academics:

Religion- May is Mary’s month we continue to pray the rosary. Our reading will come from the Children’s Bible.

ELA- Theme 9 focus is letter Yy and short vowel /e/. Word families ‘et’ and ‘en’ which includes blending and segmenting. When reading we stretch out the sounds to read new words, please follow this skill when reading together each night.  This week our word sorts will continue with beginning sounds. Writing: persuading others to help make the world a better place.

EM- recognizing double digit numbers, adding and subtracting with 10 on the 110 grid, adding/subtracting numbers to twenty, and hour hand.

Science- experimenting with magnets- vocabulary to use: attract, pulls closer,  iron, steel,  or not attracted.
