Merry Christmas, Third Grade Families!

This week our little elves will be working hard on a special Christmas gift for moms and dads. No peeking. Our plan is to send them home on Thursday.

Friday morning is our class book exchange! We’ve already got several books wrapped and ready in the classroom. Please remember to send your child with a book for the student whose name (s)he pulled. It should be wrapped with a tag listing who the book is for.

The coming weeks are particularly busy for all, so there will be no homework assigned. Instead, the students are to rest up and be good in preparation for Santa.

In class this week…

Math: Monday is the Unit 4 “Progress Check” (test). After that, we will take time to review and reinforce other skills introduced throughout the course of this trimester.

There will be no assigned IXL skills for homework this week!!!

Spelling: Spelling tests will take place on Wednesday. No new words will be assigned.

Vocabulary: The Unit 6 test will take place Thursday.

Reading: The class will continue an “author study” of author and illustrator Jan Brett.

There will be no assigned reading this week. Instead, enjoy a good book at your leisure. Students are welcome to input any minutes read into our online reading log.

Science: We will continue to learn all about states of matter, with a focus on liquids & gasses.

Social Studies & Religion: The class will focus on Christmas traditions!

Some of this week’s highlights:

Tuesday: Field Trip to the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.

Wednesday: Free Dress. Bring $1 for the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Friday: Free Dress — no charge. The class will celebrate the holiday with pizza and milk & cookies!

(If your child has dietary restrictions that prevent him/her from eating these foods, please pack an alternative.)

See you next year!

Mrs. Espinosa
