Dear Kindergarten Families,

Happy Monday!

Harvest Dinner is this Friday, October 8 @5:30
(A noon dismissal from school)

Our Parent Meeting went well last Wednesday. Your feedback, ideas, and suggestions are important to us. Next meeting will be in April.

During the month of October, we will be learning about many of the Catholic saints. A tradition here at our school is to have the primary grades, K-2 dress up as a saint and know the name of the saint they portray.
Mark your calendar for November 5 when we celebrate All Saints Day with an all school mass @ 8:30 following with a parade.

  • Book-it form coming home today– record your nighttime reading.
  • Coming soon — Sunday, October 24 –FIESTA! Bring the whole family and enjoy!

This week’s academics:

Religion book, chapter 5 reflects on the importance of spending quiet time and listening to God in our hearts. This quiet prayerful understanding will help us to appreciate and understand our faith through prayer. Saint Therese and Saint Francis will be discussed. This also brings us to the significance of our names and the saints we may portray in November.

When we read in class, we discuss the characters, beginning, middle, and ending of the story. We are continually practicing letter formation. This week we will work more on tall letters and the beginning consonant sounds.

Chapter 2 in our Math text begins patterning. Vocabulary included in this chapter is “pattern” your child will be learning how objects, pictures, or numbers repeat according to a rule.

In Social studies, we are beginning a unit study on community. We will learn about our occupations, neighborhoods, rules and laws, leaders, and services in our community.

Our science lessons will continue with plant and animal growth. Vegetable seeds will be planted this week! We will measure our hands and feet as well as our height. As a class we will observe, measure, and water our sunflower seedlings.

That should take us to Friday!

God Bless your families.
