Dear Kindergarten Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend.  Family time is our life line to happiness! Our religion lesson this week tells us about God’s love in families. Bible story reading continues with Jacob and his very large family of twelve sons and one daughter.

ELA finds us sight word reading in groups, listening for syllables, vowels, breaking up the sounds in CVC word families, listening for rhymes, writing sentences, and printing. Our letter focus is Ss. Reading comprehension is noting details and sequence of events.

Number stories with addition, counting with objects, and forming those numbers correctly will be our  math focus. We count to 100 by 5’s and 10’s and count back down to 0. Counting and looking for numbers and patterns in our environment follows Everyday Math activities.

The sense of smell will be our lab focus for experimentation. Ask your child what their favorite smell is and how many smells did they know in the lab today when put to the test!

Veterans Day will be our non-fiction reading followed with a craft in class this week.

This short week has a full day on Friday with a family activity in the afternoon.

Wednesday is a free dress! Your children enjoy showing off their favorite outfits and tee shirts! Please donate $1.00, if you can add an extra dollar or two. All monies go to support a great cause, the Adopt-a-Family mission in Los Angeles.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Carol Brown
