Dear Kindergarten Parents,

* Money for donuts has been extended to Tuesday.

* Permission slips coming home this week–cost is $3.00
* Next Wednesday there will be a free dress to support cancer-wear pink or blue.

I would like to say a couple of things about homework. Homework is extra practice that coincides with and reinforces our daily class work. Your children are doing an excellent job. I appreciate your support and guidance.

Next week I would like to use an online web site for one part of homework –do not worry– your children know it well. Homework will consist of using this web site with our sight words and the ‘at’ and ‘an’ family words to create a comic, print it out and send back with homework packet.

One night try reading online through www.wegivebooks.org it helps a worthy cause. List it on your November book-it form.

Religion:
We are thankful for all the wonderful things God has created. We focus on growth in Chapter 9. Take time to let your child know how much they have grown and how many milestones lie ahead.
Scripture: ”I am like a green olive tree growing before the Lord”. Psalm 52:10
Language Arts:
We continue to identify consonants, vowels, and our alpha friends. We have been addressing the sound of short vowel “a” with the ‘at’ family. This week we begin our focus on the ‘an’ family. Letter formation practice in class and using sight words, a, and, & to for sentence building. Continue to read nightly. New sight words will be coming home later this week for students who are ready.
Math:
The class will be problem solving, classifying and identifying objects, stressing number formation and recognition. We will review sorting and patterning. These skills are used throughout the year.
Social Studies and Science:
We will demonstrate our knowledge of community and neighbors with worksheets and a hands-on activity. With Thanksgiving only a couple of weeks away, we will be thinking and discussing family and traditions, now and long ago. For our science studies, we will wrap up our unit on plants.

God bless you and your children
