Dear Kindergarten Families,

I hope everyone had a nice weekend! Let’s take a look at our week.

Upcoming events….

Wednesday is school picture retake day.

Friday is a noon dismissal.

Next Monday – please let me know who your child will be representing for our Saint’s Parade. I am already getting a few responses. It is important to choose and let me know so we don’t have several children portraying the same saint. Mary is our Blessed Mother and is not considered a “saint.” Some books portray Mary as the Queen of all Saints. For our Saint’s Parade, let’s find a saint that is interesting to your family, the namesake of your child, or a family member.

This month we will spend time learning the Rosary. On Wednesday, October 26 at 2:00 we will attend the Living Rosary. Parents as always are welcome to sit with us in Church. Each day during Religion we continue to learn about several different saints.

ELA – at this time of year our main focus is the alphabet. Understanding vowels (short and long sounds) and all consonant sounds. Sight words, simple sentences, and printing. In groups we work on phonics with pictures and sorting by categories and by beginning sounds. This week we begin rhyming animal pictures, sorting and organizing by sound and rhyme.

Math- preparing for number writing, looking for patterns in the environment, matching coin games and sorting coins.

Learning about Columbus Day facts and a look at the world map will be our social studies lesson and a craft.

Science finds us in the lab exploring soil, working in our garden, and examining our sprouting seeds from last week’s lab.

God Bless your families,

Mrs. Brown
