Dear Kindergarten Families,

Remember when your kinder began on August 14? Well here we are 2 months later having a great time with our new friends with lots of learning going on!

Roman is having his birthday on Wednesday, October 16.

As we start this week – our religion focus will be on the saints and the importance of quiet time for prayer. Several parents have asked for a list of our daily prayers – click:  Daily Prayers

Christopher Columbus will be discussed for social studies today and we will make a simple craft to remember this day in history. People who help in our community will continue to be a part of our learning. I welcome parents to come in a share their vocation with us anytime throughout the year. Our field trip to the fire station was fun and your students received a lot of valuable information.  A short clip from our day:   Fire Station Field Trip.

ELA: Daily we work on letters/sounds, sight words, blending sounds to make words. As we work hard to show our best printing, we are writing sight word sentences and sounding out simple words as we write in our fall journals.

Our daily math lessons consist of counting, number formation, adding with objects, and counting with money to follow the Common Core standards. Number sense and measurement are a large part of our Everyday Mathematics (EM). We measure with non-standard units to get an “about” measurement.
