Dear Kindergarten Families,

What a great time at the Fiesta! Thanks to all of you for making our parish and school Fiesta a successful one.

Birthday News: Angela will be celebrating her birthday this Friday!

Halloween Tattoo’s on Friday, $1.00 per tattoo—to support our Mission efforts.

If you have not already done so please send in the name of your child’s Saint tomorrow. We have to make banners this week. Your child will need to know their saint’s name for the parade on November 5.

* Signed Progress reports are due today. If you would like or feel a need to have a “mini” conference, please let me know; send a note in the gold folder.

Your children are doing a great job with their homework. Thank you. Please send homework in on Fridays or let me know if you need until Monday. Your children may do homework in EDC, but please look over their work, discuss work with them, and sign on assignment page.

If your child finishes before Friday, there are many additional things to do. Encourage them to find sight words on the assignment sheet, color and add detail to the math page, write a couple of sentences using sight and family words, or just practice writing numbers, word families, and sight words.

Academics:

Religion- we will skip up to Chapter 8 this week. “I am good. All Saints Are Good!” This fits right in as we prepare for the Saints Parade and goodness in our daily lives. In class, we will discuss how the word “Halloween” or hallowed means ‘holy’ or ‘blessed’ to promote the living connection with the Saints as we celebrate All Saints Day.

Language Arts- Letter identification, consonant and short vowel sounds, “at” family, writing practice along with the sight words will be the focus this week as with the weeks to come. We are reading for comprehension and making simple flip books.

Math- Chapter 2 patterns by shape and size along with problem solving as we find that patterns repeat in twos and threes. Patterning is a concept that promotes mathematical reasoning; a math skill needed throughout the grade levels.

Science-This week we will continue with the needs of plants and animals. As we discuss the differences and similarities of living things, we will list and chart our conclusions.

Social Studies-Our unit on community past and present continues with country and city living, noting environmental changes taking place.

Lastly, thank you parents who help to make Primary Centers a great activity—for in class help as well as at home preparations.

God Bless your little saints!
