Dear Kindergarten Parents,

I hope everyone enjoyed their nice warm weekend. This week will be exciting and quite busy!

As we are about to finish this month, there are a few announcements:

The new hot lunch options look great, check out the ‘tdt’ link on the right side of our website.

The Saint’s Parade is this Friday at 8:30. Please have your little saint come in their costume, uniform is to be worn underneath. Your child will have to know the name of the saint they are portraying. If they know something about their saint- we will enjoy hearing more about that saint in class.

Friday is a noon dismissal.

On Wednesday, please support our mission efforts, by purchasing Halloween tattoos costing $1.00. Your child may purchase several, but only two tattoos will be worn at school, others will be send home to wear Halloween evening.

Wednesday- is also free dress. No dollars this time. Your child may wear shirts/pants/shorts in fall colors and/or Halloween themed accessories.

***Halloween costumes are not an option for free dress on Wednesday***

Our academic week consists of finishing a study of saints from our religion book.  Working with our understanding and belief in God, we are putting together a book for the Year of Faith. Our thoughts, illustrations and the School-Wide Learning Expectations will guide us in this project.

Language Arts: Phonemic Awareness covers beginning sounds, and words in oral and written sentences. Our focus letter sound /m/ and we will compare and review initial consonant /s/. As we listen to our weekly stories, our strategy focus is to summarize, comprehension skill is to infer: making predictions. At home please continue to practice sight words, alphabet identification/sounds, and printing your child’s name in correct case.

Math: Making and comparing sets, using vocabulary ‘one to one match’ ‘equal’, ‘more’ and ‘less’. We will work with comparing objects; numbers 0-5 will lead us to ordinal numbers. A lot of work on number formation and using a graph to solving problems will continue through this chapter in our daily centers.

Each week we have a lab in science. This unit is on our five senses, we have lots of fun in the lab with hands on activities relating to how we discover, experiment, and investigate with our senses.

This should take us through the week. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

God Bless your family,

Mrs. Carol Brown
