Dear Kindergarten Families,

Here it is a new month! I want to thank all parents who were able to come make our first Primary Center a success. It cannot be done without your help. I appreciate the parents who did a some cutting and preparing for us at home, too. It takes a lot of hands working together to make it run smoothly.

Hard to believe we’ve been in school long enough for Progress Reports!!  On Tuesday look for their Progress Report. Kindly sign and return by Monday, October 10. It is early in the year, progress reports simply tell how your child is doing at this time. We are all moving together well as a class.  If you feel we should have a ‘mini’ conference just let me know.

Wednesday,  a free dress for Adopt-a-Family , $1.00 or more. Please be generous as you can.

  • This week is a full day on Friday dismissal at 2:45

Religion –  starting this week we will focus on several Saints noted in our Religion text. Look in your child’s gold envelope today for the Saint’s Parade information. Be thinking of a Saint your little saint can portray.

ELA- continues with letter/sound recognition, print practice, workshops for reading and writing.  Finishing up concept sorts- sorting foods, cleaning supplies and clothing in the Words their Way program. Next week we start sorting pictures words with one, two, or  three syllables, compound words follows Chapter 3 Phonological Awareness.

EM- math focus – working with plane shapes noting the attributes and their correct names. Number formation, even and odd numbers, addition with tens frames, counting by fives and tally marks. Number grid practice games to help ‘counting on’ from numbers other that one.

Science- this week starts our unit on plants, our lab to germinate seeds, noting the start of roots and stem.

Social studies- people and their movement today and long ago. A discussion of Columbus and a craft for next week.

That about wraps it up! Any questions? Feel free to send me an email.

Blessings,

Mrs. Carol Brown
