Dear Kindergarten Parents,

This week we start off with a free dress on Monday! Over the last 2 weeks the lunch area has been much cleaner, your students earned a free dress. No $$ this time!

Progress reports come home tomorrow-please sign and return by Tuesday, October 14.

As we begin this week in October, please look over the Saint’s Letter posted in homework for this week. It is easy to make a simple costume for your child to portray their saint in our annual Saint’s Parade. If you need help, please let me know!

Our religion focus this week is prayer and talking to those we love. Last week we worked hard to understand how good it is to listen, at times be silent, and open our heart to God. I believe this has prepared us for this week’s lesson on prayer. We will learn how prayer can include reflection, speech, gestures, song, music, and dance.

ELA- phonics skills continue with a focus letter, this week Mm and review of Ss. Working with beginning sounds in words and oral sentences. Learning to read strategy focus: summarize; Comprehension: make inferences and predictions. As we write sentences: capitalization and ending punctuation. Word work in class:  naming words and descriptions, sight words and color words. Word work at home as you read nightly, look for sight words and color words!

EM-We are starting preparation for writing numbers correctly, math lessons will continue with looking at patterns in nature and all around as well as oral counting games. Review penny, nickel, and dime, as we match up coins and learn value.

Science- finds us learning/comparing animals – last week mammals – this week, fish and their body parts.

Social studies – mapping our school and neighborhood, learning directional concepts.

Full day of school on Friday.

Blessings to your family,
