Dear Second Grade Families,
WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!!!
A few Program Notes for “Opening Day”

Dismissal for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week will be at 12:00 noon. No lunches will be needed except for those going to EDC, but students may bring snacks, (healthy snacks please). Next week is a full week with dismissal at 2:45. Students will need to bring a snack (if desired) and a lunch. Hot lunch begins Monday, August 29.  Please fill out the hot lunch order found in the family envelope. Lunch boxes need to be used even if it is just for a snack. The sea gulls are pretty brave and scope out and steal paper and plastic bags.

PE is still on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will begin next week. The full PE uniform is required. (Please follow the guidelines). Boys and Girls wear their PE clothes on PE days. Sturdy tennis shoes are required for all.

The morning routine will be the same as last year. All students are to be in line in the inner patio area at the 7:50 am bell. Then as a class we will walk together to the classroom. You can help your child with this by saying good-bye to your child as he/she lines up with the class. As your child walks in with the class, he/she will learn to be responsible, independent, and ready to begin the school day.

For those not driving through the pick-up line, the after-school waiting area for K-4 is in the patio area in front of the current Religious Ed. Office, not in front of our classroom doors. This will help alleviate dismissal congestion as students leave their respective classrooms to travel down the hallway to the waiting area for cars and carpools.

Your cooperation with the before and after school routines will be greatly appreciated.

You will be receiving a “Monday” letter weekly letting you know what’s going on in our classroom and any way you can help your child. Included may be a request of items needed (if necessary for the week), a reminder of items due (such as book orders, etc.) and also anything that might be of importance to our class. Don’t forget to read the school newsletter for school wide activities.

Look forward to receiving detailed letters on important Second Grade requirements and other important items,  (ex; Flat People Project), for your attention. We will review these at Back-to-School Night.

And…we’re off and running. Please make sure your child has a healthy breakfast each morning. This is the body’s fuel for good learning.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Danforth and Mrs. Vazquez
